M-16 Overview
The roots of reggae start with the one drop riddim. This drum pattern is the heartbeat of many classic reggae songs. Today, it is still making people dance and feel good. A new project from Boot Camp Records brings together some well-known reggae artists. The label started in 1998 and has worked to keep authentic reggae alive. Boot Camp Records is known for real sound system productions that respect traditional reggae values. On this project, Yami Bolo sings “With You.” He is recognized for his work with Augustus Pablo and for songs like "Jah Made Them All." Bushman adds his voice with “I Need You.” Bushman is best known for his hit album "Nyah Man Chant." Zeno delivers “Girls Medley,” bringing a fresh style to the lineup. Frontpage steps in with “Show Me The Way.” Singing Melody performs “When A Woman's Fed Up.” Singing Melody reached wider audiences with his album "They Call Me Mr. Melody." The riddim also features Vylmark on “Prove My Love,” Nadine Sutherland with “Never Knew,” Admiral Tibet on “Kibba Yuh Mouth,” Little Kirk singing “When I Need You,” and Arp performing “Selena.” Each artist gives their own flavor to the one drop riddim. The sound is smooth, relaxed, and true to roots reggae. This release lets listeners experience both the history and new voices of reggae. The one drop base keeps crowds moving, showing that roots music still matters today.
