Somewhere between a lovers-rock sway and a brisk one-drop pulse, Lova Lova Riddim keeps its footing on warm bass, clean skanks and a feel-good stride that never gets too slick. MSF Music and Rebel Sound Records assembled a busy cast around it, and the best moments come when John Mouse’s “Freedom” and Pablo Bently feat. General Trees on “Money” push the message out front while Zabrick’s “Whats App” and “Mi Chargi” give the set a more current edge. There’s enough room here for roots-minded singing and a little streetwise chatter, which suits the project’s message-of-love angle without turning soft. The final instrumental lets the groove breathe and leaves the riddim’s guitar flick and bassline to do the talking.
