Coming out of the 2011 reggae crop, Live Show Riddim feels like a quick snapshot of a small dancehall corner where nine artists each get a turn on the same framework, from Borderline’s “First Lady Reply” to Seroje’s “Gyal Wine. ” The set has that live-session energy in the title, and you can hear the scene-minded approach in the way Wise, Gibbz, Icon, and Lava all work the same groove from different angles without muddying the mood. It’s the kind of compilation that catches a moment rather than chasing a big concept, with “Hafe Mek D Paper” and “Back Off” giving the tracklist a sharper edge. A compact 2011 cut, and that’s part of the charm.
