Liberty Riddim (2015) – Kwashawna Records

D’Angel sets the tone on Liberty Riddim with “Nah Stress Me, ” and that kind of cool-headed swagger is the thread running through Kwashawna Records’ 2015 juggling. The cut has that clipped, mid-tempo dancehall snap that leaves room for the voices to do the heavy lifting, and Destiny’s “Like The Man Them” turns up with enough attitude to make the clean and raw versions feel like two sides of the same coin. Likkle Miss brings a slyer, younger energy on “So We Dweet, ” while Sekklez’ “Long Time” leans into the tougher edge of the rhythm before Shana Bliss closes it out with “Been Through Alot. ” Seven tracks in all, with the extra clean/raw versions giving the project a little more movement than the tracklist first suggests.
