This one has that early Studio One ache and sweetness, all warm bassline and steady skank, with Bob Andy’s “I’ve Got To Go Back Home” sitting right at the center of it. The lyrics carry that homesick, repatriation-minded pull that made the song a classic from the jump, and the later cuts keep leaning into the same mood without losing the groove. Augustus Pablo’s “Midnight Skank” and Horace Andy’s “We’ve Got To Forward On Home” both stretch that feeling in different directions, while Marcia Griffiths adds a clean, earthy contrast. Freddie McGregor and Tappa Zukie deepen the set’s rootsy feel, but it’s The Aggrovators’ “A Homeward Version” at the end that really seals the whole thing, leaving the riddim to talk for itself.
