Inspiration Riddim (2021) – Brafazz Entertainment

Brafazz Entertainment’s Inspiration Riddim sits a little differently from the harder-edged dancehall one-shots the label has been pushing around the same period; this one is leaner and more reflective, with a measured groove that leaves space for the songs to do the talking. The lineup is compact — Chief’s “Memories, ” Grim Hype’s “Signs, ” Jafrass on “Affi Rich Now, ” Sanii’s “Hold on Me, ” and the Vantage/Paparatzzi cut “Winner” — and that keeps the focus on the pattern rather than the guest list. The production hangs on a clipped drum program, a warm bass pulse, and a restrained lead motif that circles back without crowding the vocals. Jafrass gets the most obvious hook moment, but the whole set moves with the same mid-tempo steadiness, more tuned to singjay phrasing than aggressive ride-out.
