Heavenless Riddim (2002) – 321 Strong

Rattling energy. 321 Strong’s 2002 take on Heavenless keeps the cut-down four-track format tight and sharp, with Delly Ranks and Arp firing off “No Guns” over that familiar pull while Mark Wonder’s “One And Only Lady” leans sweeter and more reflective against the same skeletal groove. There’s a nice little push-pull here between the warning-song side and the loverman side, and Sugar Roy’s “Who Start The War” keeps the tension moving without overworking the rhythm. It’s a lean session, just the version and three voices, but that economy is part of the charm.
