Guns Riddim – Iyah Music

Back in 2021, reggae was still carrying a lot of hard messages through tune-up riddims like this one, and Guns Riddim fits right into that moment with its anti-violence angle and lean roots feel. Iyah Music keeps the instrumentals tight, and the title says plenty: Delly Ranx’s “No Bloodshed” and Anthony B’s “Wrong Decision” both lean into the pressure and consequence side of the theme without getting preachy. Maikal X’s “Spirit In The Sky” adds a more uplifted note, while “Put Away the Guns” from Shabba and JayREF hits the message head-on. The set closes with “Guns Dub, ” which gives the riddim room to breathe and lets the rhythm itself carry the weight.
