Gun Bogle Riddim – Junjo X Volcano

Gun Bogle Riddim captures that early-’90s dancehall pressure with a stripped, military-leaning swing and a tight Junjo x Volcano edge, the kind of groove that leaves plenty of room for the voice to jab through. The cut is credited to Henry Lawes and turns up in 1992 under both Gun Bogle and its alternate title, Patsy Riddim, which gives the whole thing a little extra lineage. Singing Melody and Capt. Remo handle the lone vocal tune, and “Patsy” has the buoyancy you’d expect from that pairing, riding the rhythm with a light touch rather than trying to overpower it.
