Gibralta Riddim landed on Black Scorpio in 1995 with four cuts that capture the tougher mid-’90s dancehall sound, led by Lt Stitchie’s Be Humble, Mega Banton’s Mr Madden and Tatty, and Wickerman’s Pose Pon Dem. Black Scorpio, the long-running Kingston label run by Maurice Johnson, was already a major name in the era, and this set fits right into its no-nonsense catalog. The release keeps the focus tight with the same rhythm carried through each tune, while the mix of Lt Stitchie, Mega Banton, and Wickerman gives it plenty of personality.
