Ez Riddim – Smart Move Records

Warm, mid-tempo reggae carries this one, with a breezy guitar-and-keyboard feel that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to breathe. The Ez Riddim keeps the spotlight on three cuts: Adrian Campbell’s “Take It Easy, ” Tarrus Riley’s “Hurt Me, ” and the Irie Love and Fiji pairing on “It Is Wut It Is, ” which also appears in karaoke and instrumental forms on the release. That extra packaging gives the project a little more utility than a plain three-song set, and the Tarrus track is the obvious anchor thanks to his smooth, emotional delivery. Smart Move Records issued the riddim in 2012, and the tracklist stays tight at three songs.
