Expensive Riddim – Teamfoxx

Teamfoxx’s Expensive Riddim arrived in 2023 with a short, club-minded three-cut run that sits closer to the soca-dancehall crossover lane than to straight Jamaican dancehall. The production comes from Teamfoxx, the New York-based imprint tied to Saint Lucian producer-artiste Motto, whose name has long been linked to Dennery Segment and to energetic island music made for fetes and road-march pressure.

Destra opens the set with Private Area, a natural fit for a singer who has spent years as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s defining soca voices. Her cut carries the riddim’s playful, flirtatious edge and gives the project its most immediately crowd-ready hook. Motto’s own Expensive is the title track and the clearest statement of intent: flashy, cheeky, and built for loud systems, with the kind of chant-friendly delivery he has used across his Teamfoxx catalog. Mr Legz’s Woman, which also circulates with Problem Child attached on some platforms, rounds things out with a more direct party tone and a strong carnival-fete feel.

The rhythm itself is lean and glossy, with a steady forward bounce, bright digital synth colors, and enough low-end push to work in both dancehall and soca sets. It is not a sprawling juggling project; it is a quick, focused drop meant to move fast and make each voice count.
