Lloyd Campbell was already a trusted name in roots and lovers rock long before this set landed in VP’s Riddim Driven series, and by the 2000s his Joe Frasier imprint had become a home for polished, singer-led reggae with real crossover reach. The Engine 54 and Humanity package taps that side of his catalogue: warm, melodic, built for voices with control, and rooted in two classic foundation riddims rather than the harder, digital dancehall cut of the era.

The project leans on a strong singer lineup. Freddie McGregor’s “Humanity” and “Uncle Sam” give the set its emotional and political center, with McGregor sounding right at home in that reflective mode. Glen Washington is equally important here, turning in the praise-heavy “Give Thanks and Praise” and the smoother “Movin’ On. ” Sanchez’s “Love” brings the set’s most direct lovers-rock lift, while Wayne Wade’s “Young Girl” and Tinga Stewart’s “Tinga Medley” add veteran polish. Lloyd Brown’s “Humanity PT. 2” keeps the message side alive, and cuts from Fiona, Collin Roach, Mical Rustle, Scotty, Dino and Facety, d. Smooth, King Waggy Tee, Limey, and Andrew Bell fill out the juggling with different tones and approaches.
