Dreamers Riddim (2016) – Ruski

Ruski’s Dreamers Riddim rolls out with a compact but lively nine-track lineup, and the mix of voices keeps it moving between chest-out ambition and street-level grit. Deep Jahi gets two passes on “Drink and Smoke, ” one clean and one explicit, which tells you right away how the riddim sits in that raw 2016 dancehall pocket, while Teejay’s “Tell Me” and Tapik’s “Victory” lean into the tougher, more reflective side of the set. Elsewhere, Jae Prynse’s “Good Living” and King Cess’s “Pray” give the project a more uplifted edge, so it never settles into one mood for too long. It’s the kind of release that captures that mid-2010s dancehall moment when young singers and DJs were carving out space with sharp hooks and everyday talk, all over a riddim that keeps the pressure on without getting crowded.
