TJ Records’ Double Trouble Riddim keeps the focus tight: three cuts, all from the 2012 dancehall run, and each one leaning on the kind of hard-edged, stalking energy that suited the era. The remastered pass sharpens the low end and gives the whole thing a cleaner, more immediate knock, but the draw is still the lineup itself, with Vybz Kartel’s “Death Row” setting the tone and Popcaan’s “Step Like Dead” pushing the pace alongside Masicka’s “Baddest. ” That last track lands as the youngest voice in the set, and it’s the one that gives the riddim its extra snap, sitting neatly between Kartel’s cold menace and Popcaan’s forward motion.
