In Trinidad’s 2019 soca season, NMG Music framed Day Break Riddim as a dancehall-soca set with a bright, early-morning energy and a compact seven-track run. Bunji Garlin’s “Dem Devil, ” Lavaman’s “Drunktion, ” Tallpree’s “Jab Story, ” Dev’s “Doh Fraid, ” Ricardo Drue’s “Liquid Vibes, ” and Jaiga’s “Bacchanal Spirit” all ride the same riddim, with the instrumental closing it out cleanly. The lineup leans heavy on familiar Carnival voices, and Ricardo Drue’s cut is one of the smoother, more melodic entries in the pack, while Bunji Garlin brings the sharper edge.
