By 2011, New Move Production had this one sitting comfortably in the roots-minded side of its catalogue: a nine-cut Conscious Move Riddim that leans on straightforward reggae weight rather than any flashy studio tricks. The lineup is deep in foundation voices, with Junior Kelly’s “Herbs And Spice” and Leroy Smart’s “Blessed Is The Man” giving the set its strongest ballast, while Turbulence, Super Black, and Lava keep the message-driven angle moving. There’s a clipped, unhurried feel to the rhythm section, with the bass sitting low and steady and the drums keeping a patient one-drop pulse that leaves plenty of room for each singer to work the phrasing. Firegrinds, Kibba Ranks, Ras Ghandi, and Stepper all ride that same frame in a more direct, chant-like style, which is really the point here: conscious lyrics over a warm, grounded riddim that stays locked in from the first drop to the final vocal turn.
