CELEBRATE RIDDIM produced by VARIOUS ARTISTS 2005

This one feels leaner than the big name-heavy dancehall packages that usually crowd the mid-2000s, and that’s part of its appeal: just Killyman and VNC riding a clean, no-nonsense Celebrate rhythm with a version cut in between. The riddim keeps a brisk step and a bright, slightly celebratory bounce, but it doesn’t get too glossy; the production leaves enough space for both voices to land without clutter. Killyman’s “Love De Toi” comes off the sharper of the two vocals, while VNC’s “Pren Conscience” leans more into the message side of the tune and gives the project a bit more weight. The instrumental version closes it out neatly, and with only those two songs around it, the Celebrate Riddim works like a compact snapshot of dancehall in 2005.
