Born Free Riddim – Black Scorpio

Born Free had that clean roots charge Black Scorpio could do in its sleep, with Luciano’s title cut carrying the strongest pull and Jimmy Riley’s “Try Your Best” sitting right in that same upright, survivalist lane. The riddim only runs five tracks, but it still feels roomy enough for Mikey General and Prestige on “Nah Live Good” and Turbulence alongside Higher Trod on “Step Aside, ” both leaning into the conscious message without crowding the groove. There’s a nice little tension in the way the version drops in too, almost like Scorpio leaving the bare frame on display after the singers have done their work.
