Blue Jeans Riddim – Starbwoyworks

Corn Head’s “90’s Dancehall” sets the tone on Blue Jeans Riddim, and that’s probably the sharpest angle into StarBwoyWorks’ 2016 juggling: this one leans into a lean, springy dancehall groove with a throwback edge rather than trying to overstuff the rhythm. From there, Dizzle, Fat-D, Galiano, Hanzo, Rudebwoy Face, Takuto and Triga Finga each take a turn, with “Bwoy Fi Dead” and “Much Badda” bringing the tougher slack talk while “Blue Jeans” itself keeps the title cut front and center. The whole thing runs nine tracks over about 25 minutes, released in August 2016, so it feels like one of those compact mid-2010s riddims that moved cleanly between singjay swagger and straight chat. StarBwoyWorks keeps the instrumental in the mix too, which lets the pattern breathe and underline that old-school dancehall pulse.
