Blackboard Jungle Riddim – Unknown Label

Lee Scratch Perry produced Blackboard Jungle Riddim for an unknown label in 1973, and it sits right inside the early dub era that helped define his sound. The release is carried by The Upsetters, with Blackboard Jungle Dub (Ver. 1) and Blackboard Jungle Dub (Ver. 2) giving the riddim its most recognisable form. As one of Perry’s early-70s Studio One-free experiments, it leans on stripped-back bass, deep echo, and that raw, smoky studio feel that became part of the Black Ark blueprint before the Black Ark years fully took shape.
