Big Bunx Riddim – Zimi Records

Big Bunx Riddim arrived in July 2023 from Zimi Records and producer Franc White, with release and distribution handled in the Now Or Never/Zimi orbit. It’s a tight six-cut dancehall juggling that sits squarely in the harder, modern street side of the genre, driven by a brisk 101 BPM and a clipped, percussive bounce that leaves room for big deejay hooks and chant-along phrasing.

The cut list keeps the energy moving with Roze Don’s Bakshat, RajahWild’s Wild Out, Iwaata’s Ten, Najeeriii’s Paddle Boat, Konshens’ Dip Suh and Valiant’s Mad Out. That lineup gives the riddim a useful cross-section of dancehall’s current voices: Konshens brings veteran command, while RajahWild, Iwaata, Najeeriii and Valiant lean into the more recent wave of youthful, aggressive, social-media-ready deejaying that has been shaping the sound over the last few seasons.

The production is sharp rather than sprawling, with the snare and bass doing most of the work and the artists riding the pocket instead of fighting it. Mad Out and Dip Suh are the first places to go if you want the riddim’s personality in full view, but RajahWild’s Wild Out and Roze Don’s Bakshat also capture the project’s raw, neighborhood-raid feel.
