Beat Down Riddim – Digital Sounds Entertainment

2014 was still a busy year for soca riddims out of the Vincy scene, and Beat Down Riddim sits right in that pocket with a lean five-track run from Digital Sounds Entertainment. The production has a sharp, road-ready feel: bright percussion up top, a sturdy low end underneath, and enough space for the vocalists to push their hooks without crowding the rhythm. Icon’s “Breakaway” sets the tone with a clear carnival charge, while Intaception’s “Mr Officer” is strong enough to earn a radio cut and a full version. R3cka’s “Izah Vincy” leans into local pride, and Syxx closes it out with “Thunder, ” which sounds like it was built for a truck speaker system and a hot parade route.
