A short, rattling dancehall set, Aspic Riddim keeps the focus tight with just five cuts and no wasted motion, the kind of 2005 juggling that leans more on attitude than heavy lineups. Dj Galak’s “Aspic Meggamixxx” kicks things off with the most overtly playful title in the pack, while Gandhi’s “Loriginal, ” Miki’s “Eventre, ” and Rott Mc’s “Crim Clash” keep the energy on that rough-edged, Francophone dancehall side where the vocals do the work over a lean, urgent groove. It’s a compact release, but that economy is part of the appeal: each artist gets in, makes a mark, and gets out.
