Foota Hype questioned Demarco’s reluctance, suggesting that if another artist, like Kayodi, expressed readiness for Sting, Demarco should respond.
In response, Demarco emphasized that he wouldn’t consider participating without payment, specifying a non-negotiable amount of JM$6 million (approximately US$38,000). He urged Laing to prioritize the financial aspect, citing the need for Christmas toys for kids and dismissing any talk about cultural importance.
On Instagram, Demarco reinforced his stance, stating that he wouldn’t negotiate directly with artists and directed inquiries to his agent. Fans had mixed reactions, with some interpreting Demarco’s demand as a departure from his previous stance on supporting emerging artists.
Despite the buzz, Isaiah Laing has yet to respond to Demarco’s financial demands. However, he previously revealed that several veteran foundation artists are already booked for the upcoming Sting event on Boxing Day at Jamworld in Portmore.
