Dancehall is made up of a host of different acts who have their moments and shine at different times. With the Covoid -19 pandemic wreaking havoc all over the world it is coinciding with Popcaan’s domination in the dancehall industry. The Unruly Boss seems to be on a hot streak following his trip from Ghana. He has steadily released on average a track a week following the release of his 3rd studio album Vanquish late last year.
He has recently had success with the release of Promise’s music video which is featured on Vanquish. On new music Popcaan has had success with Jealousy Die Slow and Retribution. His most recent release Sex On The River is another TJ Records production. The tracks are making good traction on the airwaves showcased in the former having garnered over 400k views on Youtube. Sex on the River is still just on 35k views but that is 10 hrs from its release.
It’s good to discuss something other than the coronavirus. In addition it’s good to see the Unruly Boss pulling his weight on the music scene. It may be a while till we get to enjoy another Poppy album so we will take the singles with open arms. Born Andre Hugh Sutherland, Popcaan is a marquis name in the industry and normally does not miss a note. Following Jahvillani’s claim of being worth $107 million I can safely claim that Popcaan’s net worth is a modest US$2 million. Which still dubs him one of the wealthiest in the industry.
Popcaan has been able to break into the pop scene and things seem to be working well for him. His exposure has brought out the best of the Gaza deejay. Having memorable collaborations with artists like Davido, Kano and Torey Lanez. Musically, so far so good for the Unruly Boss and we look forward to much more in 2020.
