Dancehall drama queen Spice is set to release a new deluxe version of her album, Emancipation. Following the original album’s release in August last year, Spice announced to her fans that she was looking to focus more on her music and was asking her fanbase as to what type of music she should produce.
“Been stop listening to the loud noise from my first life. Besties the only voice I hear is yours. Now let’s focus on what other type of songs you want next #EmancipationDeluxe drops in few days,” Spice wrote on her Instagram.
This comes after all the drama of her public spat with Erica Mena on Love and Hip Hip Atlanta. Where she insulted Erica saying her son didn’t like her. Only for Erica to respond with what is being deemed a racial slur making monkey sounds. Erica has since been fired from the show and offered an apology for calling Spice a ‘blue monkey’.
Fans have been on the fence about Spice’s conduct throughout the incident, but there is no room for black-on-black racism. Erica alluded to the fact that she is not a racist and her slur was not racially motivated.
“I deeply regret my insensitive comment and want to humbly apologize to anybody I hurt or offended by my thoughtlessness. My choice of words was wrong, and I take full responsibility for what I said,” Mena was quoted as saying.
She added, “I am committed to listening to the voices of those affected and will work toward making amends. As a woman of color and the mother of two black children, I want to make it clear that my use of that word was not in any way racially driven.”
I think they should take a page from Chris Rock’s Netflix joke where he alluded to not having public fights in front of white people. However, that is basically what the show(LAHHA) is all about so we are back to square one. Erica is unemployed and Spice has gone back to making music. We move on.
