Afrobeats superstar Rema, performed his hit song Calm Down at the 67 Annual Ballon D’or Awards held at Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris France. With an interesting black dress attire, Rema’s performance was a celebration of African music and culture, and it was a proud moment for Africans. Rema took time in his performance to shake hands with the football stars in a gesture of salutations and mutual respect.
A definite milestone for the young Nigerian, Rema became the first African artist to perform at the prestigious award ceremony held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France.
Lionel Messi took home the men’s accolade on the back of guiding his country to win the 2022 FIFA Mens Football World Cup last year.
Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati won the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the first time after enjoying a hugely successful year helping her club triumph in the Spanish top flight and Champions League and winning the Women’s World Cup in the summer.
