It’s easy to get carried away with party dancehall tunes seeing as the festive season is upon us. However, we cannot forget the conscious tunes that have a relevant message. Case in point, Kabaka Pyramid dropped his latest tune which talks about the prevalence of child abuse. Kabaka Pyramid is slowly becoming a fans favourite with a string of classic reggae tunes.
2020 has proven to be a solid year for the Kingston native with notable tracks which include, Babylon Fallin, Dreams to Reality and hit collaborations with Chronixx and Christopher Martin. Trample Dem has Kabaka talking about paedophilia and how society needs to deal with it. Whether an official music video will be released is another question. But, the lyric vid does enough to relay the message. Speaking about the track. Kabaka went on to say he hoped the abused children would find a way to deal with their ordeal as well.
“The laws have to be changed. We need to foster an environment where people can talk about these things and heal from it, and most importantly the sick deviants must get a judgement,†said Kabaka.
Not having dropped a studio album yet. Kabaka Pyramid is poised to release a mixtape though, that has fans waiting with bated breath. Titled Immaculate, details of the mixtape are yet to be released but I am guessing Protégé, Chronixx and Dre Island will feature.
The Kingston native clearly has a lot on his mind and we are hearing about it through his music. We only hope he continues on this rich vein and we get to enjoy his unique sound. In the same mould as Protoje, Chronixx and Dre Island, Kabaka Pyramid is no longer a hot prospect and I’m sure we can all agree he is now an accomplished reggae artist.
Check out Trample Dem and make your own judgement.
