This week’s find of the week is for vintage reggae fans as I acquaint you with Inna De Yard. Initiated by French label Makasound in 2019, Inna de Yard is a reggae ensemble comprising, Winston McAnuff, Cedric Myton (of The Congos), Kiddus I, and newcomers Johnny Osbourne and Keith & Tex.
With a signature of recording informal jam sessions, the group’s latest project Family Affair is a compilation of unplugged classics with the group’s distinctive acoustic sound. True reggae fans will appreciate the ensemble’s style as it reflects the origins of reggae with live recordings ‘in a yard’ as the group’s name describes in patois(Inna De Yard).
The group is back after a 4-year hiatus following their successful self-titled album in 2019. Featuring Ken Boothe, Horace Andy, and Judy Mowatt, the project grabbed the world’s attention and the group went on to delight audiences with over 100 live performances.
Preaching global peace and harmony. Inna De Yard is the quintessential vintage reggae group to listen to when your soul requires healing and peace. Family Affair, takes its name from the location of Reggae Legends Villa in Kingston, Jamaica where it was performed. With 13 tracks on the album, definitely give Inna De Yard a chance and see where the music takes you. The ensemble has evolved over the years dealing with loss and additions. However, the essence of the music remains and I definitely recommend giving the music a chance, as you appreciate reggae in its purest form.
