Iotosh – Fill My Cup ft. Protoje needs special mention and features as this week’s Find of The Week. Reggae producer Iotosh took center stage and called on frequent collaborator Protoje for this groovy single. Standing as a remix to his stand-alone track without Protoje, Fill My Cup is a reggae track that flows with a powerful spiritual message for the conscious folk.
“It’s the first song in which I am singing and not deejaying and I am also being very lyrical,” Iotosh explained. The reggae producer went on to say,
“I began writing it two years ago in the pandemic. I had a lot of questions around my career at that point, and I was dealing with a couple of personal things in my life. I was feeling pretty depressed and this song was sent to me. The words were like me reassuring myself. The lyrics are great, and it is technically impressive. What I really wanted was a song to resonate with people. It is the perfect song to step out with.”
Iotosh Poyser (24) is relatively young given his achievements so far. With 3 Grammy nominations for productions including work on Koffee’s albums, Iotosh is a key player in the game. With Fill My Cup being his maiden foray into singing you have to commend the youngster. Fill My Cup is being dubbed a conscious and feel-good reggae anthem for the ages and there is no disputing his message. With Protoje’s influence, I am sure the track will get more traction as this is a must-listen to all my reggae fans.
A definite contender for reggae song of the year. Fill My Cup is a classic tune and has opened the door for Iotosh. We hope for more jams like this.
