Capleton’s High Octane Performances Continue

capelton

Dancehall great Capleton rolled back the years with a stellar performance in Guadeloupe. You can’t help but admire the way the maestro was able to capture the crowds’ attention. Having them wave their hands in unison is a testament to his legendary status performance-wise. The younger generation can learn a lot from the Fireman and objectively speaking you have to admit dancehall of old had more energy and gusto.

The likes of Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, and Mavado kept the fire going from 2005-2011 with high-performance shows but it seems to have been watered down now.

Whether it is possible for the likes of Skillibeng, Skeng, or Valiant to keep a crowd going like Capleton? I highly doubt it. However, it may be unfair to ask because the music has changed, and the fanbase too. Social norms have definitely changed and the club scene is no longer the same. Funny enough, Shenseea did pass a comment after moving to the United States saying she was surprised how the old-school dancehall was still the main focus and was what most Americans were vibing to. Obviously, that means a lot and I hope the young musicians in JA and all over the world take heed and try to stick to the basics.

Capleton is a true legend and his high-octane style music seems to be timeless. I challenge the younger generation to emulate this true legend and maybe dancehall may go back to what we loved once upon a time before the smart era age.
