Capleton Sings About The Signs Of The Times

capleton sings about the signs of the times

Capleton is finally back in the mix with a brand new single, Signs of The Times. The track was produced by Kalm Ras Music and features on Humble Thoughts Riddim. The reggae track has Fireman reminding us of his conscious side, and we can reminisce of when he used to be the voice of the genre with other old-timers like Sizzla and Fantan Mojah.

There have been some memorable Verzuz battles since its inception a few months back and we can only hope for another Jamaican themed one. Bounty Killer and Beenie Man rolled back the years in a unifying battle a couple months ago. The epic ‘battle’ stood as the perfect advert for oldskool dancehall and had over 500k viewers watching online worldwide. Hip Hop had its turn a couple weeks ago when DMX and Snoop Dogg went head to head in the battle of the dogs. There have been many more cool battles but I think the world needs another dancehall advert with the aforementioned Capelton.

With over 20 studio albums to his name, Capleton, also known as Clifton George Bailey is one of the genre’s main stalwarts. His sound carried dancehall and reggae through the 90s all the way into the 2000s. The only question is who can match the Fireman and can be able to keep up with his numerous hits? The first names that come to mind are Sizzla Kalonji and Buju Banton.

Capleton/Sizzla could actually make a lot of sense and you can pick a winner at your own accord. For now take some time to listen to Mr Bailey as he rolls back the years. He speaks about all the craziness going on in the world right now with a strong conscious message. Riddimsworld will keep you updated as to who else is going to feature on the riddim.  And i’m guessing this one is probably for the grownups.
