Following his Long Walk to Freedom Tour Buju Banton has joined Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company. To celebrate the momentous contract Buju released his latest track ‘Steppa‘, along with the music video. The video has already garnered 96k views on Youtube just 9 hours following its release which gives a positive indication of its expected success.
The release comes a week after the success of ‘Trust‘. Buju brought a modern sound which worked for him and definitely resonated with the younger generation. Buju raps,
“Mi nuh trust phone, mi nuh own, mi nu like it

The track has been a huge hit in Jamaica and on the global stage having been streamed more than 840k times on Youtube, in just a week following its release.
Buju fans have more to look forward to with the eminent collaboration with Unruly fans favourite Popcaan. The pair appeared together on Popcaan’s instagram saluting each other in a studio area. The caption on social media read, “Stay tune fi the fire tune[fire emoji] @bujuofficial.â€
The collaboration will go a long way for both artists as Popcaan has a huge commercial international following along with the younger demographic. While Buju brings his old school global following to the table. The exact details of the collaboration have not been released but if it’s anything like the new sound in ‘Trust‘ it’s sure to be a banger.
Reggae and dancehall fans brace yourself for the end of the year. Both ‘Trust’ and ‘Steppa’ are good markers for the dancehall legend and the next track could be the years closer, marking the end of a truly remarkable comeback for the once incarcerated dejaay.
