Not sure if its a gimmick or some sort of advertising thing but dancehall fans still await an album from Bounty Killer dubbed King of Kingston. The Warlord made an announcement of the album back in 2020. He told fans that he was going to bring back that old-school sound for hardcore dancehall fans, after criticizing the new wave of trap-dancehall which has taken over. Bounty Killer has opted to water down the fire by releasing a collaborative mixtape with Swedish Dancehall/Reggae Selector DJ Everlina titled ‘50 Caliber and Beyond’.
Bounty[/embed] Killer is held in high esteem by the dancehall community and Shaggy has gone as far as saying he should be vested with Jamaica’s sixth-highest National Honour, The Order of Distinction for his altruism in Dancehall. Bounty kickstarted numerous dancehall artists’ careers having numerous proteges including the likes of Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Mavado, Elephant Man, and Wayne Marshal. Bounty Killer paved the way for many giving the youngsters at the time a platform to show off their stuff not expecting compensation.
As we all wait for King of Kingston which will be produced by Damian Jr Gong Marley indulge yourself in the hour-long mixtape. Good things come to those who wait patiently.
