A Closer Look At Between The Lines Riddim

a closer look at between the lines riddim

There are a few tell-tell signs that normally indicate whether a riddim is average or good. And one of them is the line-up of artists. When you see Romain Virgo, Busy Signal, Ce’cile, Konshens and I-Octane featuring, it is normally a good sign. Between The Lines Riddim features the aforementioned including Padrino and ZJ Chrome and is a product of ZJ Chrome. Konshens has a field day on the riddim having two cracks on the riddim with Love is Here and Badman Heart.

On a scoring system, I would give the riddim 4 stars out of five and it should be a contender for ‘riddim of the year’ if there was such an award. Honestly speaking, it would have marketed 5 stars if only it included Tarrus Riley, Alaine and Duane Stephenson perhaps. On a lovers-rock reggae tip, the riddim touches on relationship issues. From breaking up to making up and Konshens talks about the ‘badmun’ culture.

Reggae fans should appreciate the rhythm as it has that unique lovers-rock sound and all the artists show off their distinctive sound. If you liked others riddims like My Paradise Riddim or Cali Roots Riddim then this one is definitely for you. One flaw I shouldn’t forget to mention is the lack of female representation. I’m sure other artists like Alaine or Sevana could have had a crack on it as well. Which brings me to a significant point. What about Koffee, Lila Ike or Protoje? Are they not fans of featuring on such rhythms?
