4:20, 2023 : Buju Banton and Snoop Dogg Collaborate

4:20, 2023 : buju banton and snoop dogg collaborate

In the spirit of 4:20, riddimsworld.com would like to wish everyone the happiest and highest of days. Sticking to the smoking theme, Snoop Dogg and Buju Banton are set to release a track titled High Life. The track title gives away the theme of the track and it is just unfortunate it was not released today.

Veteran deejay Buju Banton made the announcement of the track’s release on his Instagram accompanied by a snippet of the song. American rapper Snoop Dogg, formerly known as Snoop Lion is no stranger to the genre having spent a few years in Jamaica and converting to Rastafari. In 2012 Snoop moved to Jamaica, changed his name to Snoop Lion, and went through ritualistic ceremonies to convert to the Rastafari faith. Everything culminated in a reggae album Reincarnation in 2013 which was received with mixed reviews.

Critics had a field day in reviewing the album and points were made that there were not enough reggae artists featured on the album. In addition, Bunny Wailer lashed out at Snoop in an interview with TMZ, and decried what he described as the rapper’s “outright fraudulent use of the Rastafari community’s personalities and symbolism” and his failure to meet contractual, moral, and verbal commitments.

Cold-blooded right? Snoop obviously hit back marginalizing his contribution as a Wailer, saying Bob Marley and Peter Tosh were always the main players in the band.

Buju[/embed] Banton is in the box seat this time around and I look forward to this upcoming collaboration. Buju has had a fairly quiet 2023 new-music-wise so this should be a good marker to start off with. Whether it’s redemption for Snoop or not, the pair have a strong global fanbase who will welcome the song with open arms.

Either way, be sure to roll a fatty today in the spirit of 4:20 and smoke responsibly.
