Richie Spice delivered his 10th studio album titled Black Man Time. Self-produced, along with talents such as Clive Hunt, Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden, and Fyah Wayne, Black Man Time was released via Spice’s own label Richie Spice Music. With a wide range of albums to his name, this is by far Richie Spice’s most modern in terms of sound. The project is a reflection of how reggae has progressed over the years and Richie is evolving with it as well. Moving away from his usual roots reggae style. Richie Spice added more flavour to his music delivering some upbeat tracks like Lion and The Lamb and All Night Long.
Richie Spice’s signature is heard loud and clear on Johnny Too Bad. Reminiscent of Plane Land and Gideon Boot, Richie Spice does what he knows best with a banger of the track including other roots reggae tracks like Tea Bread and These Are The Days alongside Capleton.
It’s[/embed] a good time for the genre with the heavyweights all dropping albums. Beenie Man kicked things off with Simma followed by Buju Banton’s Born For Greatness. It will be interesting reading when Grammy nominations come out for Best Reggae Album.
Roll back the years with the old timers and let us see how far Richie Spice’s Black Man Time will go.
