Focus today lies on Pied Piper Riddim. Produced and distributed by ZJ Liquid for H2O Records the dancehall riddim ranks up as one of 2023’s summer bangers. The riddim brags a star line-up featuring Vybz Kartel, Konshens, Bugle, Demarco, Iwaata, and Shane O. With a familiar tune the riddim is more suited to the middle-aged dancehall fans as opposed to the likes of Valiant, Kraff and Skeng fans.
Vybz Kartel is controversial as ever, proclaiming that no woman is irreplaceable. I think it’s best to leave Vybz with his opinion as that is another discussion. However, Kartel does the riddim justice lacing the track with numerous punchlines and melodies to boot.
Demarco holds his ground with his latest release Jan Crow. Helped by a memorable rhythm Demarco is able to spit bars that remind us of just how good he is. With visuals to support, Demarco continues to entertain, establishing himself as a formidable dancehall artist.
Veteran dancehall artist Bugle features with L.I.V as he sings about the summer. On a party tip, Bugle may have the pick of the tracks as he continues to put his hand up. Hailing from Portland, Jamaica, Bugle whose real name is Roy Thompson is one of dancehall’s most underrated artists. Having been on the music scene since 2000, Bugle is known for songwriting for the likes of Elephant Man as well as establishing himself as a reggae and dancehall artist.
When you’re in the mood to turn up, Pied Piper Riddim is for you. If you know anything about Robert Browning’s Pied Piper of Hamelin book you will know the Pied Piper played the flute. And fittingly the riddim is carried by a melodious flute. Have a listen to the rest of the riddim and see which artist does it best for you.
