The Gully Gad is back with a brand new single titled Nuh Sorry. Produced by Son Son Productions/Mansion Records. Mavado’s unique vocals come to the fore and we get to enjoy the familiar voice we all fell in love with back in the early 2000s. In a heartfelt song, Mavado sings about his experiences of sorrow and strife and outlines how his faith in God has grounded him. He prays for his haters who don’t want to see him carry on singing about how he is not sorry for his success.
Carried by a unique piano melody Mavado reminds us once more of his versatility as an artist and is a must-listen for both Mavado and dancehall fans.
Coincidentally the track follows a Foota Hype interview in which the selector explains how his friendship with Mavado fell away and how the Gully Gad disappointed him. The selector noted the role he played in the artist’s career and how things fell apart as Mavado wanted him to just be a yes-man soldier as opposed to an equal.
Probably just a coincidence that Mavado would sing a song saying he is not sorry. However, many people will probably assume it was directed at him and makes for good show business. Either way, give Nuh Sorry a listen and I am sure we will be hearing a little more from the American-based Jamaican deejay henceforth.
