Joining in the frenzy of releasing an album, Masicka is the newest dancehall artist set to release an album. After his maiden album in 438, released in 2021, Masicka made the announcement of his impending album on social media after his performance at Reggae Sumfest 2023. Masicka captioned a backstage photo saying:
“God a guide 👆🏿#albumsoon” along with a clock emoji.
Born Jeavon Fearon, Masicka looks to emulate his debut album success which had songs like Moments, Vanish, King and Pain which solidified him in the dancehall fraternity. Two years on Masicka has not released as many songs as the likes of Vybz Kartel or Popcaan, however, he still remains as relevant as ever. His current notable songs include Pack of Matches, Tyrant, Umbrella and Pieces featuring Jahshii.
“Mi[/embed] can tell yuh seh it far betta dan 438, suh, dis a sumn weh di fans dem can look out fah, and it a drop dis year suh fi fans dem can look out fi dat to. We a work pon di album…jus’ some likkle fine tune and going ova some tings but mi want di fans dem look out fi dat ‘cause dat aguh be problems again.” He exclaimed.
If God A Guide sells anywhere close to 438, Masicka will be in good stead as it was the third best-selling album in the USA by a Jamaican in 2021. Masicka from the looks of it continues to make a name for himself and long may that continue.
