Long Live Jamaica, Land We Love

long live jamaica, land we love

Big up to all the Jamaican Heroes.

To mark the special occasion Vybz Kartel released an anthem for his brethren. The incarcerated deejay has done it again in throwing down another banger in ‘Long Live Jamaica‘ featuring JayCrazie.

The single’s artwork has a famous photo of The Worl’Boss including other Jamaican greats including Marcus Garvey, Nanny, Paul Bogle and sprinter Usain Bolt. The surprise omission from the collage is Bob Marley. Not trying to be controversial or anything, but, doesn’t Bob deserve to be included? Maybe I am making something out of nothing.

The track has an anthem vibe which makes for a classic club jam. Vybz heralds the Jamaican flag high and proud in this feel good jam. Despite being incarcerated Vybz has continued to dominate the genre. I can firmly say his dominance in the genre is unparalleled across all genres. Never has there been an artist that has dominated so much let alone done it behind bars. The Teacher can be hailed a legend but that may raise some eyebrows because of the nature of his crimes and due punishment. We definitely cannot put him in the same bracket as Marcus Garvey or any of the other Jamaican legends including Bob Marley (who is missing from the collage).

Music-wise[/embed] we can surely give him legendary status alongside other artists like Sean Paul who received the Order of Distinction for his contribution to Jamaica’s music culture. Unfortunately this award will elude Vybz for the rest of his life for reasons that are right in front of us and don’t need explaining.

A special day for Jamaica deserved a special track from Vybz. Big up to you Mr Palmer and we look forward to more hits from you.

Me feel proud so me affi say it out loud / Jamaica land we love.” sings Vybz.
