Buju Banton Teams Up With Torey Lanez In Trust

buju banton teams up with torey lanez in trust

It looks like Buju is pulling all the stops to be the number one force in dancehall once again.  Following the success of Trust, Buju has made a remix to the track incorporating Toronto native Torey Lanez. Signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, his international clout will definitely be boosted. And with the success of this collaboration his name will be on the tip of everyone’s lips in no time.

Torey has had numerous collaborations with dancehall artists like Popcaan, Spice, Kartel and Mavado and this is sure to be a memorable one. Known for his mixtapes and remixes Torey has risen to lofty levels in Hip Hop with his autotune sound. He is able to adapt to whatever genre pulling off his verse or chorus with aplomb.

His combination with Buju came off really well with Torey trying out the Jamaican patois to good effect. The audio has already garnered 990k views on Youtube in just 4 days.

In the track Torey Lanez gives a shout out to Shenseea with relation to Side Chick Song. A prelude to a future collaboration perhaps. I am definitely for that collabo if that is on the cards as I think both their sounds will gel.

Buju Banton has an album coming later this year titled Upside Down. Buju went on to say in an interview that,

“It promises to be something exciting. It will not make you think upside down, it will set you right side up, after seeing all that is upside down.” His manager Germain went on to say that the album will have 20 tracks adding on that,

“It is an album that is geared towards the various parts of the audience that love Buju.  Dancehall, lovers’ rock, and cultural aspects. Because of the fact that Buju has been away for 10 years, we will try and give each section of the audience a little something for themselves.”

Kudos to Buju and Torey Lanez. Despite the coronavirus at least we still can enjoy heavy tracks from our favourite artists.
