Wanted Overview

Back in the early 2000s, dancehall music was full of energy and street style. One of the rhythms that really captured that raw feeling was the bashment rhythm. It was a sound you would hear at every dance, on the radio, and booming from sound systems at street parties. The man behind this rhythm was MASSIVE B, a well-known name in dancehall. MASSIVE B is the label run by Bobby Konders, a respected producer and DJ from New York. He helped bring reggae and dancehall to international audiences and worked with many big artists over the years. On the bashment rhythm, several talented artists came together. Anthony Malvo, who is known for his hit song “Take You to the Dance,” brought his unique voice to the track “Its Real.” Determine, a deejay famous for his song “Kette Drum,” delivered a strong message with “Revelation.” Dreadson added his own style with the song “Zion.” Luciano, often called ‘The Messenjah,’ is known worldwide for his roots reggae songs and positive lyrics. He performed “Prophesy” on this rhythm. Mikey General, who has worked closely with Luciano and is known for his uplifting songs, sang “Liberty.” Power Man, another respected deejay, gave his energy to the track “Love.” Even today, when you listen to the bashment rhythm, it brings you right back to 2001. The beats, the voices, and the vibe remind us of a time when dancehall was all about the streets, the people, and the music.
