Vybz Kartel – First Week Out produced by 21st Hapilos Compilations. After serving 13 years in a Jamaican prison, dancehall star Vybz Kartel was released and celebrated his freedom with a new project titled First Week Out. The 12-track mixtape, featuring collaborations with Squash on four songs, comprises tracks that have been circulating since his imprisonment. Kartel and his co-defendants were convicted in 2014 for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, a trial marred by allegations of juror bribery. In March 2024, a London appeals court overturned their convictions, deeming the trial a “miscarriage of justice,” and the Jamaican Court of Appeal subsequently decided against a retrial, freeing the men. Kartel’s release was also influenced by his health issues, including Graves’ Disease and a heart condition.
