Canadian rapper Torey Lanez who was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion was handed a 10-year prison sentence. The sentence was handed down by Judge David Herriford, presiding over the Los Angeles Superior Court. Torey Lanez whose real name is Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson who has been incarcerated since the incident three years ago will have to face the music for charges of possessing a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle. Assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and recklessly discharging a firearm.
The judgment has left people divided with some people saying it was too harsh while others side with Megan Thee Stallion agreeing with the punishment while others say it was lenient.
Following a disagreement, Lanez fired a shot at her feet, instructing her to dance as she moved away from an SUV coming from a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in the Hollywood Hills. Megan testified saying,
“Since the defendant brutally shot me, I haven’t experienced a single day of tranquillity. Although I am slowly healing and regaining my strength, I will never be the same.”
This is a classic case of when keeping it real goes wrong, and Tory will have to pay the price. His legal team is poised to appeal the sentencing as they were contending for probation and rehabilitation for a drinking problem.
