Popcaan Drops Heavy Bars In Friends Like These

popcaan drops heavy bars in friends like these

“With friends like these who needs enemies.” Andre Popcaan Sutherland.

Following the release of Dons and Divas and Upside Down 2020 last Friday. The dancehall space has been a buzz, as dancehall aficionados critique Vybz and Buju’s work. The welcome gifts from dancehall royalty will most certainly have the debate go on for the rest of the year. And, only then will I be able to pass judgment on the issue.

Interestingly enough, Unruly Boss Popcaan has been able to let his presence known with his latest cut Friends Like These. The Unruly Entertainment production delivers a thought-provoking message. With Poppy dropping heavy bars throughout. Friends Like These has over 300k views on Youtube’s streaming platform just three days from its release.

Dancehall has definitely evolved over the past three decades and Popcaan stands out as a trendsetter. Alongside other recent artists like Kartel himself, Mavado, and Busy Signal, Popcaan punches in the same weight class. And his recent, Friends Like These is testament to that.

The[/embed] release coincides with rumours of a thwarted Vybz Kartel plan to kill Popcaan in 2016. According to vlogger Sir P of Politricks Watch, Vybz Kartel was not pleased with the success of his former protégé and sought to have him eliminated. Unfortunately for Vybz, his plan was foiled when police intercepted Popcaan’s entourage just in time as the gunmen were poised.

Both artists have rubbished the ex-police officer’s claims, laughing it off on social media. But hold up. The coincidence is uncanny and I can’t help but let my imagination loose. If you think about it more and listen to the song it may just start making sense. But hey, gossip aside Poppy does well here.

Popcaan has had numerous singles in 2020 adding onto to his successful album Vanquish earlier in the year. It’s Popcaan at his very best once again with a deep song to get you thinking.
