Reggae artist, Collie Buddz has notched up another milestone in his musical career by earning himself a third number one title on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart with his latest reggae album Hybrid.
The 10 track album was released on the 24th of May by Harper Digital, featuring collaborations with Tech N9ne, Dizzy Wright, Stonebwoy, and B Young.
Collie’s previous albums included 2007’s self-titled project, and 2017’s Good Life. 2015’s Blue Dreamz (EP) only reached number three.
The Bermudian reggae star broke bread with his fans at the Californian Roots Music and Arts Festival, 2019 edition, at the end of May by buying 1000 pizzas which were distributed as he performed. The gesture was well received by fans as he promoted the now successful album. The star is lapping up the good karma coming back to him as his album continues to sell.
Elsewhere, California band The Aggrolites are pegged at number two with ‘Reggae Now’. The album was released May 24 by Pirates Press Records, this is the sixth studio album from the band who used to do backing duties for the likes of Desmond Dekker, Scotty, Phyllis Dillon and Prince Buster.
‘Rapture’ (EP) by teenage Koffee holds at number three with 1,600 copies sold, as last week’s chart-topper ‘Mass Manipulation’ by Steel Pulse drops to number four. The project opened with first-week sales of 1,310 copies and continues to stay relevant.
Nigerian dancehall/Afrobeat artist Patoranking debuts at number five with ‘Wilmer’. The 12-track album, distributed by Amari Musiq/EMPIRE, has collaborations with fellow Africans Davido and Busiswa. It also has Frenchman Dadju, and Brit Donae’O.
Collie Buddz is not as prolific as other reggae artists like Bob Marley, Tarrus Riley and Morgan Heritage in churning out albums but he sure does deliver quality. The 10 track album keeps you wanting more and for the fans sake we hope he doesn’t take another long period of time to drop another album.
