There are certain people you come across in life who hold a certain gravitas or aura about them that gives confidence to their peers and contemporaries allowing for a certain respect and the benefit of the doubt. One of those said persons is Marlon Ricardo Williams, popularly known as Bling Dawg, and his influence on reggae music. With a stellar career spanning over two decades, it would be an injustice to overlook his debut album released early on in the year.
Bling Dawg’s self-produced album Elev8 gives a true reflection of himself with guest productions from the likes of Bounty Killer and Damian Marley. The 19-track production is a powerful reggae album and has received numerous plaudits from the likes of co-producer Damian Marley and more recently Shaggy who had this to say.
“I got the opportunity to listen to a whole heap of Dancehall albums weh come out — everyone of them weh come out, mi buy them — but yours is definitely one of the best ones I heard. Great production, great songwriting, and I never got bored listening to it.”

Released on February 4, 2022. Elev8 is Bling Dawg’s first studio album which begs the question of why it took so long to produce. Bling Dawg has been in the game for decades, and his contemporaries hold him in the highest regard, and listening to his album as a reggae fan will make you understand that. Particular tracks to look out for are Yo! featuring Christopher Martin, Feelings, with Morgan Heritage, and Facts of Life.
Produced[/embed] by Creative Titans Music and Dawg House Productions, Elev8 is for the real reggae fan and stands for everything rasta. If you hadn’t got with the program yet, you need to regularise. Bling Dawg is that old-school deejay and based on my last article on ‘catalog artists‘ he definitely needs to continue making music.
