Following the wave of tracks released over the weekend there are a few songs to look out for. Popcaan is at it again with ‘Lamp Shade’ and Kranium dropped another racey track in, ‘In Charge’. Christopher Martin also had a chilled track in ‘All Night’ which is definitely worth your time.
Focus now goes to Droptop Records with their latest production in Violin Crush Riddim. The 6IX and Gazanation team up again and deliver another fire compilation on the riddim. The rhythm features, Vybz Kartel, Chronic Law Sikka Rymes and Shawn Storm.
Incarcerated Vybz delivers a typical raw cut in Great which is reminiscent of other work such as Romping Shop. His other incarcerated cadre Shawn Storm also delivers a raunchy cut as well in Popsicle and I am sure you can get the gist of what the track is about.
Vybz Kartel cousin and lookalike Sikka Rymes is the last of the Gazanation connect on the riddim and dropped Heaven and Earth.
The pick of the tracks is Chronic Law with Don’t Change. The slightly more serious track is slowly gaining traction as the days go by. The Chronic Boss continues to make a name for himself in what is his stand out year.
Violin Crush will definitely get your attention but its lasting power is questionable. Due to the nature of Vybz and Shawn Storms’ songs it will impact its playtime on regular radio.
Other riddims that are also on the horizon and probably require more attention include Powerhouse Riddim and reggae inspired Di Alarm Riddim.
The current heavy weights are stepping up as the year rolls to an end. Expect more tracks from Popcaan, Kranium, Squash, Busy Signal, Alkaline in the near future as I am sure they want to end the year on a high. Let’s end the year on a high gents.
